The Artist's Eyes by Jenn Lee

Touch of Tuscany

by Jenn Lee on Mar.16, 2010, under Blog

It seems I am on a creative roll, I have finally figured out what to do with this 2′x4′ canvas I have painted over six times. It’s one of those odd shaped canvas’ that make it really difficult to figure out what to paint on it…that or I am just THAT picky!

I had decided I wanted to definitely hang it over our door in our two story entry way, but just couldn’t figure out the right composition to paint. I tried several different concepts in vain, but erased all trace of each composition before the paint had completely dried. The only thing I knew for certain was that I liked the venetian plaster texture I had surfaced it with.  I have to say it was quite frustrating.

The end result came to me after finishing my latest Scarlet Macaw painting. I stood my monstrous 2′x4′ canvas on the easel and started painting. I almost don’t want to confess that I had no clue what I was painting…it was like my hand had a mind of it’s own….a Touch of Tuscany.
