Artistic Challenges…

Recently I was a klutz and injured my knee, since then I have been hobbling around on crutches with a knee brace. It has added a slight challenge to just about everything.
The two story house we purchased last October has suddenly taken on the stature of climbing a mountain and my little kitchen now feels like I’m maneuvering an obstacle course with crutches when cooking. Not being able to drive myself around has also been frustrating.
When it comes to my art, I have to say that it has caused big artistic challenges. You would think that since I am more stationary (having to keep my leg propped up) that I could get more done…but it seems not!
My computer area is piled with everything I need within arms reach. Computer (of course), Sun Dried Tomato & Basil Wheat Thins (my staple snack treat), a package of Reese’s (for that emergency Reese’s craving), two mugs of paint brushes (currently both full of dirty water & brushes), the TV remote, notepad (for jotting down ideas that pop in my head), my painters palette (covered with dried paint) and cell phone (my knee is injured, not my text messaging fingers)…I think that’s everything.
To my left is my art easel with a 3D painting I have been working on (that damn Scarlet Macaw taunting me to finish it’s feathers), to the left of the easel a roll around three drawer cart holds all my paints (its top cluttered with another container of clean brushes and paints I am using on the Macaw).
To my right, leaned against my computer desk I have my crutches, a spare office chair holding four more blank canvases (waiting their turn to be painted on) and my purse (you never know what you need out of your purse). Needless to say my creative side can not see through all the clutter!
The moral of this story….”be thankful for everything in your life…don’t take things for granted…no matter how small”…(this is good advice…through this artist’s eyes!)
